PEM® self-clinching fasteners are inserted in a hole in the workpiece. There the self-clinching fastener displaces the material in the region of the drill-hole. This material flows by cold-forming into a recess in the shank area of the fastener. A serration or a specially-shaped head now prevents the workpiece rotating – the self-clinching fastener becomes one with the workpiece. In addition, the PEM® self-clinching fasteners leave no damage or bulges behind on the back of the component.
Advantages:
- Extremely stress-resistant even in thin sheets from 0.5 mm
- No special treatment of the drill-hole needed
- No reworking of the thread
- Ideal also for coated surfaces
- High positional accuracy
