Lack of documentation for complex products
C&S Electric Limited (C&S) is amongst the top 4 players in the switchgear business segment and a market leader in the busbar business with more than 50% share in the Indian market. As India’s largest exporter of switchgears, C&S provides a wide range of electrical and electronic products, which are mainly used in:
- Power generation
- Distribution
- Control
- Protection
- Final consumption
The challenge: The customer lacked detailed documentation for switchgears and control units, possessing only basic dimensional drawings. Following several meetings held at the customer's headquarters in Delhi, it was determined that a total of 19 custom-made fasteners would be needed to meet the specific requirements.
Drawings and custom-made fasteners delivered
The engineers at Bossard were faced with a challenging yet intriguing undertaking as they embarked on this project. Through a series of meetings, they discussed and clarified the specific requirements involved. Based on the specifications, Bossard engineers created drawings of the fasteners needed for the controls and switchgears. It was discovered that nine out of the originally required 19 fasteners could be used from the wide-range catalog portfolio. The remaining fasteners were ordered based on the drawings. The resulting customized and engineered fasteners were successfully approved by the customer, and future quality checks can be conducted using these same drawings.
The right fasteners at the right time and place
The international specialist for electric components now has not only the specific documentation for all components, but moreover the right fasteners at the right time and at the right place. The customer stated: “We thank the LPS Bossard engineering team for helping us to develop parts according to our requirement. We wish to have this technical coordination in our future projects as well.”
