The principle of a bigHead® fastener is simple: a fixing like a threaded collar, stud, nut or pin is welded to a perforated head.
The unique bigHead® design enables a plastic or composite component to be fastened securely with no holes, no punching or drilling. The bigHead® can be installed after the manufacture of the parent component, “post-process”, or during the manufacture, “co-process”.
bigHeads® are an ideal way to create a secure fixing point on a component. The fixing point enables the component to be efficiently fastened within an assembly or combined with secondary fastening elements. Examples:
1. Threaded fixings for use with nuts or bolts to fasten components
2. Cable tyrap for looping cable-ties in place
Core Range
Features
A pre-defined range of 156 products, supported by usage guidelines and technical data. Core range products can be used in both post-process and co-process applications.
Selected product ranges, in a wider variety of fixing type and size combinations.
Noncircular heads, including square and rectangle
Further circular head diameters
Additional fixings: nuts, nails, loops, pins, etc.
Post-Process Bonding
Features
Adhesive bonding is the most common post-process installation technique for bigHead® products, although some solutions utilise mechanical fixation. Adhesive bonding is suitable for both metallic and non-metallic materials, including sandwich materials.
Working in partnership from early in the design phase, bigHead® can help you avoid design, fastening or assembly compromises. bigHead® has the knowledge and expertise to support your design and engineering activities across multiple stakeholders.
