The Challenge for Griesser
As part of the "Extension Hall L" project and the consolidation of various processes, the centralization of the picking area was also an important topic. In the past, the picking process was spread across four different halls. The "Centralized Picking Area" project set decisive impulses in the following areas:
- Sustainable quality in picking
- Diverse use more difficult to achieve
- Outdated Windows 7 computers
- Outdated camera system for image verification
- Commissioning, Windows 7 computer and image proof from different providers, which no longer offer updates
Bossard's Solution
As part of the support for the "Centralized Picking Area" project, ideas emerged to use the SmartLabels of the logistics solution differently. With the ELAM assembly software, Bossard is able to control the SmartLabels. This allows Griesser to now pick their sets using Pick-by-Light. This helps Griesser in process monitoring and error-free production of their sets.
Through an imported parts list, employees always know the quantity that needs to be taken. Thanks to an ERP interface, Griesser can cover its large number of different commission variants, as well as gain valuable production data.

First and foremost, the focus is on improving versatility of use and process reliability. The new system makes the onboarding process much easier for new employees, which significantly speeds up training and integration into the workflow. The system also makes a significant contribution to improving the quality of the picking process by reducing errors and increasing accuracy when selecting individual items. The time spent searching for items is also significantly reduced, resulting in a more efficient and smoother way of working.
